Building a custom home is one of the biggest, and most rewarding, projects you'll tackle. If you’re planning to build in Georgia, expect a process that’s methodical, hands-on, and focused on local codes, and sensible timelines. Below is a straightforward guide that walks you through what actually happens from the first meeting to move-in day.
1. The First Conversation
This is where we get on the same page.We talk through your goals, budget, timeline, and the land you’re building on. The more honest and clear the vision is up front, the smoother the rest of the build goes. This step sets the tone for the entire project.
2. Design, Plans & Permits
Next, ideas turn into real drawings. You’ll work with designers or architects (we coordinate everything), confirm layout choices, and lock in major features. After plans are finalized, we handle all permitting with your county or city. Georgia’s permit timelines vary, but we’ll keep you updated every step of the way.
3. Site Prep & Foundation
Once permits are cleared, the real work begins. We handle grading, utilities, and pouring the foundation - slab, crawlspace, or basement, depending on your land. Getting drainage and foundation work right is key in Georgia’s mixed soil conditions, so this stage is all about doing it right the first time.

4. Build Phase: Framing to Finishes
Your home takes shape fast during framing! The walls go up, the roof goes on, and suddenly the layout is real. Then come the systems: electrical, plumbing, HVAC. After inspections, we insulate, hang drywall, and move onto finishes like flooring, cabinets, tile, paint, and trim. This is the longest part of the build and where your style really shows.
5. Final Walkthrough & Move-In
Once the home passes inspections, we walk it with you and create a punch list of small touch-ups or final tweaks. After that, you get the keys. We also review warranties and what to expect in your first year of homeownership.
